What is Indus Water Treaty

Under this, rules were decided on the use of water of six rivers Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, Indus, Chenab and Jhelum. Before the implementation of this agreement, on 1 April 1948, India stopped the water of two major canals, causing the water of 17 lakh acres of Pakistani Punjab. In fact, Pakistan’s Punjab and Sindh province were completely dependent on the water of rivers like Chenab, Jhelum and Indus to meet the water needs, but now Pakistan will not get the water of these rivers.
