The top two teams at the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 league stage, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), will play Qualifier 1 of the playoffs.
The venues for the playoffs were rescheduled after the one-week break. Mullanpur in New Chandigarh, the home ground of PBKS, received the chance to host two playoff matches – Qualifier 1 and Eliminator.

While the local Punjab fans are expected to fill the stands in support of the home side, it’s not entirely an advantage. They are facing an RCB side that made history, becoming the first team in IPL history to win all their away games in the league stage, with a perfect record.
RCB, a dangerous unit on the road, know that they are only two wins away from claiming the long-eluded trophy. They are expected to be further boosted by the return of the ever-reliable Aussie Josh Hazlewood.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has the experience of leading his troops into this high-stakes stage after winning the title as captain last year.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, will hope to take lessons from previous failures in the knockouts and guide RCB to their fourth final in the league’s history.
