Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will kick off the Playoffs stage of IPL 2025 as they face off in Qualifier 1 at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur on Thursday. The big prize for the winners of this contest is a spot in the June 3 final.
The losing side should not fret too much either as they will have another chance when they face winners of Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians clash in Qualifier 2 match on Sunday. PBKS should be the favourites in this contest having topped the Points Table but RCB have an incredible unbeaten record away from home this season.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: This is beginning to resemble those touring sides in Test cricket who attempt to sweep Ashwin and Jadeja, miss the ball entirely, and collapse for well below-par scores. Stoinis has become the third batter today to try and play Suyash across the line, only to be completely beaten and bowled. Punjab is now eight down. Omarzai and Brar are currently at the crease, and from here, they’ll need to approach it in small targets—taking it 10 runs at a time. It’s still unclear whether the pitch is tricky or if Punjab is simply crumbling under the pressure. Regardless, they’ll have to deliver something special with the ball in the second innings if they hope to stay in the contest.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Musheer Khan, brought in as the impact substitute, hasn’t lasted long. Once again, it’s Suyash Sharma who provides the breakthrough. He bowled a fuller delivery, and Musheer attempted a slog sweep but missed it entirely, resulting in an LBW. The on-field decision was out, and though the batter reviewed it, ball tracking showed three reds—confirming his dismissal after just three deliveries. That’s seven down now for Punjab, with RCB completely dominating proceedings. As things stand, Omarzai has now arrived at the crease and will join Stoinis in the middle.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Josh Hazlewood has truly transformed into a top-class T20 bowler. While Pat Cummins made headlines last season for his development, this year it’s Hazlewood who has been spot-on. Beyond his pinpoint precision, what’s stood out is how he’s taken on a new role for Bengaluru—something rare in his T20 journey so far. Meanwhile, as we bring you the latest, leg-spinner Suyash Sharma has struck by removing Shashank Singh. The batter went for a big shot on the leg side, missed it completely, and saw his stumps shattered. Bengaluru just can’t seem to put a foot wrong today—everything they try is working perfectly.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Punjab is now five down, with Nehal Wadhera being the latest to fall. He was undone by a back-of-a-length delivery from Yash Dayal that kicked up slightly, causing him to drag the ball onto his stumps. Despite playing at their home venue, the Punjab Kings just haven’t been able to gain any momentum. Every time they’ve looked to build a stand, Bengaluru has managed to strike and break it. It’s been an outstanding bowling effort so far. Typically, they bring on the spinners after the powerplay, but today Rajat Patidar has opted to stick with pace. As we speak, Hazlewood is into his third over.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Although Punjab’s bowlers have done a commendable job, some of the dismissals have stemmed from overly aggressive shot selection—Shreyas Iyer, in particular, might have exercised more restraint given the pitch had something in it for the seamers. As a seasoned batter, a more measured approach could’ve helped, but such is the nature of modern T20 cricket—it’s all about reacting quickly and playing with intent. With three wickets already down, it’s now crucial for Punjab to steady the innings and build a stand. Nehal Wadhera and Jos Inglis are composed and technically sound, capable of anchoring the side at this stage. However, as we bring this update, Hazlewood has now removed Inglis as well.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Following the dismissal, Prabhsimran Singh showed some intent by advancing down the pitch and attempting to disrupt Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s rhythm. However, the seasoned pacer adjusted smartly, shortening his length. Undeterred, Prabhsimran made another charge to hit straight down the ground, but a miscalculation saw the ball catch the edge, and Jitesh safely pouched the catch behind the stumps. Earlier, Priyansh Arya fell to a tame shot—driving loosely in the air straight to Krunal Pandya at cover. It’s been a shaky beginning for Punjab, having lost two early wickets, and to make matters worse, Josh Hazlewood has now dismissed Shreyas Iyer as well.
Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: The first over is complete, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking charge with the new ball and generating some early swing. Both Prabhsimran and Priyansh handled the movement well. The pitch appears to be a good one for batting. There could be some assistance for seamers early on, but once the ball loses its sheen, conditions may favour the batters. RCB has leaked plenty of runs in recent outings, something they can’t afford in a match of this importance. Rajat Patidar will need to be strategic with his bowling rotations. Meanwhile, Yash Dayal has just dismissed Priyansh Arya.
