Punjab Advocate General Resigns: Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Gary has resigned from his post. He has given his resignation to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Within 18 months, Gurminder Gary decided to step down.

Gurminder Singh is the fourth Advocate General who has resigned during the three -year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party. Prior to Gurminder Singh, Vinod Ghai was the AG of Punjab, who resigned, citing ‘personal reasons’. After this, Gurminder Singh became the Advocate General of Punjab on 6 October 2023.

What did Gurminder Gary write in resignation?
Addressing CM Bhagwant Mann, Gurminder Gary wrote in his resignation, “It is my good fortune that I have been entrusted with the responsibility of Advocate General of Punjab for 18 months. Now I want to focus on my private practice, so I am unable to take responsibility for AG post. I am unable to take responsibility for the post of AG. I am resigning from Punjab’s Advocate General Post.

Punjab will get new AG in 2 days
A senior official has informed the Indian Express that the resignation of Gurminder Gary has been approved. The new Advocate General of Punjab will be appointed within 2 to 3 days.

If sources are to be believed, Gurminder Singh’s resignation was scheduled, especially when the government led by Bhagwant Mann asked all its 236 law officials to resign on 21 February.

Who is Gurminder Singh Gary?
For information, let us know that Gurminder Singh is the first generation lawyer who took a law degree from Punjab University. He started his practice in the year 1989 and in 2014 he became a senior advocate. He has been a permanent lawyer for the Medical Council for India, Dental Council of India, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Punjab Legislative Assembly and other boards and corporations of the state.
