A heated verbal exchange erupted on the field between Delhi Capitals batter Karun Nair and Mumbai Indians’ star pacer Jasprit Bumrah during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match held on Sunday between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
The incident took place during the final over of the powerplay, when Karun Nair aggressively scored 18 runs off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling, including two sixes and a four. On the last delivery of the over, Nair added two more runs and appeared to physically challenge Bumrah while completing the run, sparking the confrontation.
Both players engaged in a tense exchange. Although Karun Nair offered an apology, Jasprit Bumrah reportedly expressed visible dissatisfaction. Umpires had to intervene to de-escalate the situation and restore order. A video capturing the incident has since gone viral on social media platforms.

As for the outcome of the match, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs. Chasing a target of 206 set by Mumbai, Delhi managed 193 runs before being bowled out. Karun Nair played a remarkable innings, scoring 89 runs off 40 balls. While he remained at the crease, Delhi Capitals appeared on course for victory. However, his dismissal followed by a series of run-outs toward the end dashed the team’s hopes of winning.
