RR vs MI IPL 2025: Suryakumar Yadav Scripts History, Becomes First IPL Player To Score 25 Or More Runs In 11 Consecutive Matches – Jagran English

RR vs MI IPL 2025: Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians became the first in IPL history to score 25 or more runs in 11 consecutive matches.
RR vs MI IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians’ star batter Suryakumar Yadav created history as he has become the first player in the tournament’s history to have achieved the milestone of scoring 25 or more runs in 11 consecutive matches. He achieved this milestone during their IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Thursday.
Before this innings, he was level with Robin Uthappa, who scored 25 or more runs in 10 consecutive innings for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their title-winning campaign in 2014. The next on the list are Steve Smith (2016-17), Sai Sudharsan (2023-24) and Virat Kohli (2024-25), who are all tied with nine on the trot.
MI‘s number three batter took just 11 balls to reach 25 runs against RR, and he did it in typical style, too. On the last ball of the 16th over, spinner Maheesh Theekshana bowled a low full toss at him, and the MI star went low and crouched slightly to the right to swat the scoop over deep fine leg.
His lowest score this IPL season is 26 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17, while his impactful knocks included three half-centuries before the RR game, all at a brilliant strike-rate of 171.15. It’s a remarkable achievement, which epitomises the India T20 captain’s consistency in the shortest format.
He remained unbeaten at 48 (23), the same as his partner Hardik Pandya. Together, they took the score to 217/2 in the first innings.
“It was important for us to get off to a good start,” Rohit Sharma said in the mid-innings break, as quoted by Cricbuzz. “After a couple of overs, we thought the ball was coming on nicely. We wanted to hit straight. It was kind of skiddy, the wicket. The only thing I was worried about [in that review] was if it was pitching in line or not… and it came off. [Rickelton] works really hard on his game… If he continues to bat like that, it augurs really well for us. It’s very important for us to understand the pitch. I know one side is short, and the other side is big. The guys are pretty experienced in what they do. Hopefully, we can defend that target; it’s a very good score. If you look at our batting line-up, a lot of these guys haven’t batted for a few games now,” he added.
