Rutherford Trade: West Indian Big Hitter Moves Back To His IPL Team From 2020 – Cricket.com
The second trade of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was confirmed by the Governing Council (GC) in a statement released on November 13 (Thursday) at the official website of the league. According to it, Sherfane Rutherford moved to his 2020 IPL team–Mumbai Indians from the Gujarat Titans.
The big-hitter from the West Indies moved to his new team at his old price. It means that he will get the same price of INR 2.6 Cr, for which he was picked by the Titans in the IPL 2025 auction.
“Rutherford is set to represent the MI in the IPL 2026 season following a successful trade from GT,” the IPL website wrote.
The southpaw from Guyana has already featured in 44 T20Is and was a key member of the Titans’ squad which made it to the last four in the IPL 2025 season.
The 27-year-old has so far played 23 IPL matches despite being part of four teams before being picked by the Titans in 2025. Prior to his move to Gujarat, the middle-order batter had represented the Delhi Capitals in 2019, was part of the MI squad in 2020, played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.
Earlier in the day, MI also pouched Shardul Thakur in a trade from Lucknow Super Giants.
