S. Jaishankar on Pakistan Bangladesh attack on hindu Fanatical Mindset even Indira Gandhi could not end it
S. jaishankar in Lok sabha: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar raised the issue of attacks on minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh on Friday (28 March 2025). He only referred to the attack on Hindus in Pakistan in February 2025. He said that India is keeping close watch on these attacks in neighboring countries. He said that he keeps a close watch on the behavior of girls and keeps his oppression cases from time to time in many international forums including the United Nations.
‘Pakistani government does not take any action’
During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, he said that despite many cases of attacks on religious minorities including Hindus and their harassment in Pakistan, the government there does not take any action for the protection of minorities. He said that in the month of February in Pakistan, 10 cases of atrocities on Hindus, two cases of oppression of Sikhs and one case of excesses with a Christian community came to light.
‘Indira Gandhi could also do this …’
Foreign Minister Ajayashankar counted the kidnapping, forced conversion and police action against the students playing Holi. He said that a case also came to light of the oppression of people associated with Ahmadiyya community. He said that we cannot change the mindset of such a neighboring country, whose thinking is of bigotry and fanaticism and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi could not do so.
How many attacks took place on minorities in Bangladesh?
The Foreign Minister said that 2400 cases of attack on minorities were reported in Bangladesh in 2024 and 75 such cases have been registered in 2025 so far. He said, “I raised these matters with the Foreign Minister there. Our Foreign Secretary raised this subject during his visit to Bangladesh. This has been a cause of concern for the Government of India. ”
