SMAT: Deepak Hooda, Sarfaraz Khan Show Prowess Ahead Of IPL Auction – Cricket.com

Deepak Hooda, who was not at his best during his stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has found form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025. He has hit two unbeaten fifties (90 and 76) and a 28-ball 43 in his four innings in the competition so far.
Add to that the hundred and double hundred he notched up in the Ranji Trophy and you have a red-hot Hooda entering the IPL auction for 2026, which is scheduled to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
Sarfaraz Hits Maiden T20 Century
Another out of favour and out of form player, Sarfaraz Khan, who played the last of his 40 IPL games in 2021, nearly five years ago, might fetch a bid this year. It is based on his current form as the middle-order batter smashed his maiden T20 century.
Having started out in April 2014, Sarfaraz took 11 years and 97 games to reach the milestone. For a change, he batted at number three in Mumbai’s SMAT game against Assam. The 28-year-old was playing his first SMAT game of the season and made the most of it.
