Pat Cummins: One change for us – Jaydev comes in, Shami goes out to the impact player list. (On playing on this surface) It is a cause for optimism, we know this surface and ground really well. We’ve played some really good cricket this year. (On the Pahalgam terror attack) It has been heartbreaking for us as well, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
Hardik Pandya: Feels good (on the applause). I would like to firstly pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack. We as a team and a franchise condemn any such attacks. We’ll bowl first tonight. Looks like a good track, just one change for us – Vignesh comes in for Ashwani. We need to just execute our plans and take the game as simply as possible, plan properly.
Travis Head is dismissed for a duck in the second over of the game and Trent Boult has sent back the Aussie batter. What a big scalp this is! MI will be relieved to see the back of Head.
Wow! Some bizarre few minutes that as MI send back the dangerous Ishan Kisha for caught behind. Kishan flicks on this pads but the ball misses the bat and goes straight into MI wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton’s hands. Half-appeal from the MI players, and umpire raises his finger.
Ishan walks back but replays showed there was no edge. Strange!
It’s all going downhill for SRH after losing the toss. A bizarre dismissal followed by the departure of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma for 8 runs has left the hosts in a spot of bother.
SRH lost Nitish Kumar Reddy inside the power play and saw the hosts go four down. They have had a dismal start to their batting against MI and will need to rely on their lower-order batters, to bail them out of trouble.
Score after 6 overs
SRH 24/4
Talk about falling like ninepins, SRH are doing just against MI at their own backyard. Sunrisers Hyderabad are five down inside 10 overs and have lost half their side thanks to some reckless shots. MI will smell blood and go for the kill!
Heinrich Klaasen is key for SRH against MI tonight with the Protea smashing 15 runs against Vignesh Puthur’s over.
Score after 10 overs
SRH 52/5
After a dismal start, SRH have recovered somewhat thanks to Heinrich Klaasen’s fifty runs. Moreover, he has also brought up the fifty-run stand with Abhinav Manohar for the sixth wicket.
Score after 15 overs
SRH 90/5
Few overs remaining and if Klaasen stays till the end, expect SRH to get a decent total on board. After being 35-5 at one time, this is a great comeback for the hosts.
Wickets in the death overs and SRH have posted 143 for the loss of eight wickets. It couldn’t have been possible had it not been for Heinrich Klaasen’s courageous 71.
Mumbai Indians have begun their run-chase of 144 and in the process also lost a wicket in the form of Ryan Rickelton, who was dismissed by Jaidev Unadkat.
Mumbai Indians require 99 runs in 90 balls and have nine wickets in hand in pursuit of 144. Rohit Sharma is batting at the crease and his fireworks could derail SRH’s momentum, if any.
Score after 5 overs
MI 45/1
Mumbai Indians need 75 runs in 72 balls and have Rohit Sharma and Will Jacks at the crease to take them towards finish line
Score after 8 overs
MI 69-1
Mumbai Indians (MI) have lost Will Jacks 22(19) as SRH struck again after the visitors going nicely in their pursuit of 144.
Score after 10 overs
MI 79/2
MI are coasting towards an easy victory as SRH bowlers look short on ideas and ability to take wickets. SRH, apart from that one game, have been dismal this tournament and tonight’s performance raises questions about their leadership and all-round ability.
Score after 12 overs
MI 100/2
Mumbai Indians are coasting towards an easy victory and moreover, with overs to spare. That is some statement from the five-time champs.
Abhinav and Klassy got us to a good total, but we couldn’t get through this innings. Needed a guy to really steady the ship. (On the pitch) You have to build your innings here, if you face a few balls you can catch up. (On the competition in the IPL) Difference between our first game where we got 280 odd and then on the same surface we got rolled over. In T20, the margins are also very little, you need to perform on the given day. (On the road ahead) We have a few away games now, it will be about assessing each wicket as quickly as possible. Some days it will be all out attack, some days it will be about weighing our options.
