The Titanic passenger’s letter sold at a record price in Britain.

A letter written by a passenger of the Titanic ship is sold at a record price in auction in Britain. This letter of Colonel Archball Gracie was bought by a secret buyer for Rs 3.41 crore (300,000 pounds). The auction took place on Sunday at ‘Henry Aldridge and Sun’ in Wiltshire, England.

According to media reports, the initial estimated price of this letter was around 60,000 pounds, but it sold for five times more price. This letter is being called ‘prediction like’, because in this, Colonel Gracie wrote to a friend that ‘This ship is good but will wait for his journey to end before taking any decision.’

This letter was written on 10 April 1912, on the same day when Colonel rode on Gracie Titanic. Five days later, the ship collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and drowned. About 1,500 people lost their lives in this accident.

Colonel Gracie was first class passenger and he wrote this letter from cabin number C51. The letter was posted on 11 April the next day when Titanic stayed in Ireland’s Queenstown (now Kov). The letter was also installed on the London postmark of April 12.

According to the auction house, it is the most expensive selling letter ever associated with Titanic.

After escaping, Colonel Gracie wrote a book called ‘The Truth About the Titanic’, in which he shared his experience of the accident. He had told how he survived by climbing a overturned lifeboat in cold water. However, many people who reached the lifeboat died of cold and tiredness.

Colonel Gracie survived this accident, but his health deteriorated significantly. Later he went into a coma and died on 4 December 1912 due to problems related to diabetes (diabetes).
