Two traffic constables suspended for aiding illegal IPL ticket sales in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Two traffic constables have been suspended and ordered for departmental inquiry after being accused of assisting in the illegal sale of IPL tickets for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The suspension order was issued by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M.N. Anucheth. The suspended personnel are Ravichandra, who was serving at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station, and Venkata Giri Gowda, who was posted at the Traffic Management Center (TMC).
The incident came to light following the IPL match held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17. Two individuals, Shankar and Suresh, were caught by Govindarajanagar police selling tickets illegally near Vijayanagar Park.
Upon interrogation, the duo revealed that Constables Ravichandra and Venkata Giri Gowda were allegedly instructing and aided them to sell the tickets. Based on this, an FIR was registered against the two constables at Govindarajanagar Police Station.
Following the registration of the case, both constables were served notices and have now been suspended. A departmental inquiry into their involvement in the illegal ticketing racket is currently underway.
