With fans holding their breath over MS Dhoni’s future, Chennai Super Kings’ wicketkeeper-batsman Vansh Bedi made a heartfelt appeal for the legendary captain to suit up again in IPL 2026. He said the whole of Chennai wants to see the legend return next year and guide CSK to glory again.
At 44, Dhoni remains central to CSK’s identity, and his appeal isn’t just about fireworks on the field; it’s also about the unmatched cricketing mind and calm leadership he brings.
However, his physical limitations cannot be ignored. For years now, Dhoni has been struggling with recurring knee and back injuries.
In his brief interview with Sports Yaari, young blood Vansh Bedi stated that he and thousands of CSK fans genuinely want to see MS Dhoni play again in IPL 2026.
He explained that apart from being an excellent finisher, Dhoni brings his extraordinary cricketing mind to the table, which is crucial for CSK’s success.
“Yes, I absolutely want him to play. Not just me, the whole of Chennai wants him to be a part of CSK this year as well & I really wish that he plays this year as well because the contribution he makes to the team, the brains he can use in the matches, no one else can do that,” Bedi said.
Interestingly, Dhoni himself has acknowledged the speculation. After Chennai Super Kings were eliminated from IPL 2025, he admitted he’s in the last phase of his career and that it could take 6–8 months of hard work to determine if his body can still handle the rigours of T20 cricket.
Legend MS Dhoni has once again left fans guessing about his IPL future. After the Chennai Super Kings’ poor 2025 season, many thought he had played his last match. But at an event, Dhoni recently joked about his fitness, saying his doctor only cleared his eyesight, not his body.
“I just got a tick mark for the next five years I can play cricket. But the only catch is Doc only gave a clearance for eyesight. Body, He didn’t gave a clearance for the body. But I cannot play cricket only with my eyes,” Dhoni said.
The CSK legend is still dealing with knee issues and has not confirmed if he will play in IPL 2026, keeping fans hopeful yet uncertain.
