Waqf bill: To pass the Waqf Amendment Bill, the Lok Sabha will be considered on Wednesday (April 02, 2025). After this, a platform of conflict has been prepared between the opposition condemning the government and the proposed law as unconstitutional to pass it. It is expected to be discussed on Thursday (March 03, 2025) in the Rajya Sabha.

Big things-

1. Eight-eight hours have been allotted to discuss the proposed law in both houses. The four biggest components after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)- Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal-United (JDU), Shiv Sena and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)- have asked their MPs to support the government and support the government’s stand.

2. On the other hand, Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has been informed to all the Lok Sabha MPs of the party that on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 Some legislative works are being brought for discussion. All the members of the party have been requested to be present in the House all the time and follow the instructions of the party.

3. The Congress has got about a hundred minutes in the Lok Sabha. Potential speakers may be Gaurav Gogoi, Imran Masood, Mohammad Javed. All three were members of Waqf JPC. Tomorrow, Anurag Thakur, Jagdambika Pal, Abhijeet Ganguly, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Tejashwi Surya and Nishikant Dubey can speak in the Lok Sabha. Kalyan Banerjee and Abu Tahir Khan from TMC will speak in the Lok Sabha. Weather Noor and Nadeem will participate in the discussion in Rajya Sabha on behalf of Trinamool Congress. On behalf of Shiv Sena, Srikanth Shinde and Naresh Mahaske can be speakers in the Lok Sabha. Ikra Chaudhary, Mohibullah Nadvi and Akhilesh Yadav can be speakers on the Waqf Bill from Samajwadi Party.

4. The deadlock on this issue does not seem to be a significant difference as the ruling coalition in the Lok Sabha is in favor of the NDA. In the Lok Sabha, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi alleged that his voice was not being heard. He said that the opposition parties were demanding to allocate more time for discussion and wanted to discuss issues like Manipur’s status in the House and controversy related to voter ID card.

5. Gogoi said that in the BAC meeting, there was a fierce clash between the government and the opposition and the leaders of the opposition parties left the meeting and came out. Reijizu said that many parties wanted four to six hours of discussion, while the members of opposition parties were adamant on discussing 12 hours. He said that this period can be extended according to the spirit of the House.

6. Later, the BAC meeting of the Rajya Sabha was held, in which it was decided that the bill will be discussed on Thursday and it is expected that by then the Bill will be approved by the lower house. AIMIM member of the bill Asaduddin Owaisi told reporters that he will tell how it is ‘unconstitutional’ during the discussion on this bill in the House. He alleged that the bill has been brought for the purpose of controlling the religious rights of Muslims and the public will teach a lesson to BJP allies like TDP and JDU.

7. The NDA has 293 MPs out of 542 members in the Lok Sabha and the BJP has been successful in getting the support of some independent members on several occasions. According to official sources, big allies of BJP like TDP, JDU and Chirag Paswan -led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) initially objected to some aspects of the bill, but they can support the bill after some of his suggestions were adopted by the Joint Committee of Parliament.

8. The constituent parties of the India alliance also discussed their strategy, which included Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and KC Venugopal, Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) Supriya Sule, Kalyan Banerjee of Trinamool Congress and Sanjay Singh of Aam Aadmi Party.

10. Opposition parties are strongly opposing the bill and are calling it against the interests of unconstitutional and Muslim community. Some major Muslim organizations are united against the Bill. The Bill proposed a provision to improve the management and administration of Waqf properties in India. The budget session of Parliament will end on April 4.
