Imd weather update: After twice the rains in some parts of north-west and central India, some relief from the scorching heat is now over. India Meteorological Department has predicted an increase of day temperature (maximum) by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next five days on Sunday (April 20, 2025) and re-heat stroke in many parts of the country.

The IMD said that during April 22-24, there is a possibility of heat stroke in different areas of South UP and MP. There is a possibility of heat stroke in Rajasthan and Haryana on April 23-24 and Vidarbha during 21-23 April. IMD has advised people, especially the elderly and children to avoid the heat, issuing Yellow (be careful) for these areas.

The possibility of rain in these areas will increase mercury in eastern India

However, a new round of heavy rain may be seen in the Northeast from Tuesday (April 22, 2025), while in eastern India, temperature is expected to increase by 4-6 degrees Celsius in the next four days.

The heat outbreak was at its peak around 8 April, when the mercury crossed 46 degrees Celsius in some parts of western Rajasthan. After this, the rains from 9 to 12 April and last week brought the temperature down to several degrees. On Sunday, Chandrapur in Maharashtra was the hottest place in India with 44.6 degree Celsius.

Temperature will also increase in Delhi

This week, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 40 ° C to 42 ° C, but the temperature may increase further in the coming days. Last week, there has been some relief from the heat due to cloudy sky, light rain and strong winds, but the level of humidity has increased.

The IMD has forecast thunderstorms and rain on Monday with a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature of 26 ° C. ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued for thunderstorms, electricity and dust storms. The sky is expected to be partly cloudy, as well as the level of humidity is expected to reach 63 percent. Delhi is expected to move surface winds at a speed of 10-20 km/h in Delhi.
