Franchises will now be hard at work, trying to figure out strategies and targets for the mini auction in Abu Dhabi. What remains to be seen is when the BCCI’s consolidated list of players available for the mini auction will be released.
The retention deadline for franchises ended on November 15, 2025, with teams releasing unwanted players and retaining their core team for the upcoming season.
This development has given us an indication of the big names who could be available for the upcoming IPL 2026 mini auction. All released cricketers from the aforementioned deadline could be part of the auction pool unless they withdraw for some reason.
This core group effectively forms the bulk of the auction pool, and will be supplemented by other domestic and overseas players who were left unsold in the mega auction last year.

The IPL 2026 mini auction is scheduled for December 16, 2025, in Abu Dhabi. Based on past editions, the BCCI typically publishes the complete, consolidated auction list — including registered players and base prices, about 10 to 14 days before the auction.
Reports have suggested that the final document this year is expected to arrive in the first week of December 2025, although an exact date has not been formally announced.

The official release adds another layer to the known pool. It will include uncapped domestic players who registered for a chance to be selected in the IPL after strong showings in tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
It must also be noted that any overseas player who did not register themselves in IPL 2025 mega auction will be not be eligible for the 2026 mini auction.
