According to the World Health Organization, the committee reviewed the cases of polio around the world. Especially in Pakistan, talks were also held regarding the situation regarding polio and the efforts of the government to deal with it. During the meeting, the Emergency Committee of WHO found that Pakistan and Afghanistan are a big threat to spread polio in the world and these two countries were held responsible for spreading polio around the world.

Polio cases are increasing in Karachi and Peshawar
WHO appreciated Pakistan’s anti -polio campaign, but also said that Pakistan will have to work more hard for polio -free country. According to ARY News, polio cases have also been reported in many new cities of Pakistan. Especially Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta have become new hotspots of polio virus type-1. Due to these cities, the cases of polio are also increasing rapidly in Central Pakistan and Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In 2024, 74 cases of polio were reported in PAK
Polio cases are also increasing due to the movement of displaced persons and refugees. The committee said that polio vaccination should be done fast on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The two countries will have to make a strategy together to prevent polio from spreading. In 2025, there have been 6 cases of polio in Pakistan so far, while 74 cases of polio were reported last year,
