Zaheer Khan Parts Ways With Lucknow Super Giants: Reports – Cricket.com
Legendary Indian pacer Zaheer Khan has decided to part ways with IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, after his vision didn’t align with head coach Justin Langer and team owner Sanjeev Goenka. ESPNcricinfo reported that Zaheer made the franchise aware of his decision on Thursday.
Zaheer Khan joined the LSG franchise in August 2024 as the mentor, a position that was vacant for a season following Gautam Gambhir’s departure. Zaheer was appointed to take charge of scouting, planning and strategy.
LSG made it to the playoffs in their first two seasons in 2022 and 2023 but finished seventh with six wins from 14 games in IPL 2025. They won only two games at their home base of Lucknow.
After LSG secured the services of Rishabh Pant in the auction, it was Zaheer who was responsible for building the block entirely and even had clear discussions about his strategy to build the side around Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh at the top of the order.
Before joining Lucknow, Zaheer had worked with Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022.
