Mumbai Terrorist Attack: The NIA is bringing the country’s largest enemy terrorist Tahavvur Hussain Rana from America to Delhi. Tahwwur Rana is now coming to India after trying all the legal routes to stop his extradition. A special aircraft regarding Tehwwur has flew from the US on Wednesday (9 April 2025). Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.

What will happen to Tehwwur after coming to India?

According to the NDTV report, Tahwwur Rana will reach Delhi on Thursday (10 April 2025), soon after which the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will arrest him. It is being told that Tehwavur is likely to be produced in a Delhi court. The Mumbai Police has not been officially told when it will be transferred there.

This team of NIA is bringing Tahwwur

The joint team of NIA and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is bringing him back to India. NIA IG Ashish Batra and DIG Jaya Roy are leading a team of 7 members to bring Tawwur Rana to India. His team also consists of 3 officials of RAW and Foreign Ministry. Due to security concerns, the NIA team is bringing Tawwur Rana by special aircraft. After questioning in Delhi, NIA will take Tahwwur Rana to Mumbai to face the trial through transit remand.

26/11 arrested a year after terrorist attack

David, the main accused in the 26/11 terror attack, had said that Tawwur Rana had supplied goods and financial assistance for the terrorist campaign. Prior to the attacks, Headley had done Reiki in Mumbai as an employee of Rana’s Immigration Consultancy. The Federal Investigation Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Tawwur Rana in Chicago in October 2009, a year after the Mumbai attacks.

Tahwwur Rana was born in Chichavatni city of Sahiwal district of Punjab province of Pakistan. He has worked in the medical core of the Pakistani Army. Tehwavur left the Pakistani Army in the late 1990s and moved to Canada and later got Canada’s citizenship.

Conspiracy for terrorist attack in many states of India

Officials of the security agency say that Tahwwur Rana and David Headley are childhood friends. Headley and Rana along with members of Pakistan-based terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) and Harakat-ul Jihadi Islamic (HUJI) hatched a criminal conspiracy to terrorist attacks at Delhi and other places in India.

A total of 166 people including six Americans were killed in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. These attacks were carried out by 10 Pakistani terrorists. In November 2012, Ajmal Aamir Kasab, the only living terrorist of the Pakistani group, was hanged in Yerwada Jail in Pune.
