3 Big Indian Stars Who Could Be Available at IPL 2026 Auction – Cricket.com

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw first-time winners, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ousted Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final. The season also saw plenty of surprises, as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished last for the first time in IPL history.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn’t fare too well either, which will now force these franchises to shake things up by letting go of some big Indian names. It will allow the other franchises to swoop in on the big Indian players and change their fortunes.
Who are the 3 big Indian players who could be available at the IPL 2026 mini auction?

Ravichandran Ashwin
For the first time in his IPL career, Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t play ten games in a season, as he found himself a lot on the bench during his 2025 IPL stint with CSK. Since then, Ashwin has transformed himself, with a solid performance at the TNPL 2025, where he scored 297 runs and picked up 13 wickets.

A quality off-spinner of his kind doesn’t come that easily, and there could be a tussle to get the all-rounder at IPL 2026 auction.

Mohammed Shami
When you talk about quality Indian pacers, Mohammed Shami’s name was on the list not too long ago. However, the Bengal pacer hasn’t looked the same since getting injured after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The 34-year-old pacer went wicketless in four of his nine IPL 2025 innings, showing a lack of form. With SRH shelling out INR 10 crore, there’s a strong chance that Shami could return to the IPL 2026 auction fold. If he does, he will be one of the biggest names at the auction.

Venkatesh Iyer
Not too long ago, Venkatesh Iyer was a highly sought-after player at the IPL 2025 mega auction, which included a long tussle between RCB and KKR. KKR eventually won that tussle, with an INR 23.75 crore bid for the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder.

But after a poor IPL 2025 season, where he could only score 142 runs, KKR would be tempted to throw him back into the auction pool to seek greener pastures. The all-rounder will be on several franchises’ target lists, including RR, who could be looking to strengthen their middle-order, sans Sanju Samson.
