With the domestic cricket season just months away from start, several cricketers are seeking to acquire a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective state assoiciations in order to make a move. While Karun Nair and Jitesh Sharma are looking to head to their respective state cricket associations, Mumbai cricketer Prithvi Shaw is the latest to join the bandwagon.
Shaw, who went unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Player Auction last year, is now seeking to acquire a NOC from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), hoping to revive his cricketing career. Prithvi Shaw’s request reportedly comes after a turbulent run with Mumbai Cricket over the past two seasons.


The devopment was communicated by a source close to the developments. “He has just sent us a letter seeking NOC. We have informed the Apex Council members. We will issue the NOC soon,” Abhay Hadap, Secretary of the MCA, told Cricbuzz. Notably, Shaw has not played for Mumbai since December 24.


Furthermore, in a letter he addressed to MCA, Shaw wrote, as quoted by Cricbuzz, “At this juncture of my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe, will further contribute to the growth and development as a cricketer. In light of this, I kindly request you to issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that will enable me to officially represent the new state association in the upcoming domestic season.”
Once hailed as the brightest talents in the Indian cricketing scenario, Shaw was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad last year. The selectors cited fitness concerns for his omission. Although, he returned to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but was later dropped from Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad.
