In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in the Indian Express, it is learned that Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal won’t be featuring in the Asia Cup 2025. The duo are not in the plans of T20Is as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants them to focus on Tests and ODIs. 
Rishabh Pant, who became the most expensive player in the IPL 2025, hasn’t been in great form in the T20Is. Also, with Sanju Samson doing great as an opener, there’s no brainer that he has become the first-choice player, and the team management is looking at his backup. 
It is learned that one of Dhurv Jurel of Jitesh Sharma is seen as a replacement. The reports claimed that the latter is likely to get the first preference as he did a great job with the bat for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. 
On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal has done an incredible job as an opener for India in the T20Is. But with the emergence of Abhishek Sharma, there’s no place for Jaiswal in the team. Not only him, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan and others also won’t be featuring. 
The selection committee has locked in the top five, which includes Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. But Yashasvi Jaiswal not being here comes as a massive blow as he hasn’t put a foot wrong in his career. 
Also in the IPL, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been staggering. He is seen as the all-format player by the team management, and him not being there comes as a massive development. He was also part of the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as a backup opener.
