Krunal Pandya powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals with an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls in their IPL 2025 clash on Sunday.
Batting first, Delhi struggled with consistent wickets falling throughout the innings, despite KL Rahul anchoring with a 41 off 39 balls. Tristan Stubbs added late impetus with a brisk 34 from 18 deliveries, helping DC post 162/8 in their 20 overs.
In reply, RCB reached the target in 18.3 overs, riding on contrasting half-centuries from Krunal Pandya (73*) and Virat Kohli (51). Tim David added the finishing touches with a quickfire 19* off 5 balls.
On the bowling front, Axar Patel stood out for DC with figures of 2/19. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed with 3/33, while Hazlewood took 2/36. Krunal Pandya and Yash Dayal chipped in with a wicket each to contain Delhi’s batting effort.
Match Summary:
Delhi Capitals: 162/8 in 20 overs (KL Rahul 41; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3/33)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 165/4 in 18.3 overs (Krunal Pandya 73*, Virat Kohli 51; Axar Patel 2/19)
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: A dropped catch here! Starc banged it in short, and Krunal went for the pull toward the leg side. Porel covered good ground and, for a moment, it looked like he had taken a brilliant catch — but he couldn’t hold on in the end. That’s a big miss for the Capitals on a night when opportunities have been few and far between. They may have just let a game-changing moment slip through their fingers. Meanwhile, Kohli nudges one to fine leg with an unorthodox shot to bring up his fifty. This stand between Krunal and Kohli is turning out to be something special.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: A solid partnership is developing between Kohli and Krunal. Both took their time in the beginning, but in the last few overs, boundaries started to flow more freely. Axar Patel might be considering a bowling change here. He still has an over left, but he wouldn’t want to wait too long, especially since he bowled superbly with the new ball. On a pitch that’s slightly inconsistent and keeping low, Axar is the last bowler anyone would want to face in these conditions. With his mix of pace variations and arm-balls, he could prove to be a real challenge for any batter. It might be the right moment for him to come into the attack.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: The first powerplay has concluded, and Delhi has dominated this phase. RCB is slightly behind, but they have two seasoned players in Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli at the crease, both of whom have plenty of experience handling such situations in the IPL. However, the challenge is far from over. While they work on building their partnership, they must also ensure that the required run rate doesn’t escalate too quickly, as scoring will become tougher once the ball softens and loses its shine. Vipraj is currently bowling, and while he is getting some turn, he also bowled a no-ball in the over, which relieved a bit of the pressure.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: Axar Patel has made a key breakthrough here. He bowled a flighted delivery to Bethell, who attempted a slog sweep but ended up being caught at square leg. Meanwhile, RCB has lost another wicket, this time Devdutt Padikkal. The left-hander went for a cut shot but ended up dragging the ball onto the stumps. This is the kind of wicket that demands caution, especially when facing a bowler like Axar, who can get the ball to skid and occasionally sneak in an arm ball. The pitch is somewhat inconsistent, making it difficult for the batters to judge whether the ball will stay low or come through at pace.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 163 runs to win.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: We’ve reached the second strategic timeout of the innings, and the good news for Delhi is that both spinners have bowled their eight overs, and they have a well-set batter at the crease, one who can still accelerate and has a solid feel for the pitch. While it’s not been ideal for the Capitals so far, they’ve managed to put themselves in a decent position to stay competitive, hoping to set a total that might just prove challenging for RCB. In the latest update, KL Rahul has been dismissed, delivering a significant blow to the Capitals. Rahul attempted to pull Bhuvneshwar’s delivery towards long-on but ended up being caught by the fielder stationed there.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: Krunal Pandya put an end to Faf du Plessis’ struggles. The surface’s pace had been tough for him, and eventually, Faf attempted to force the issue, only to be caught at long-on. This wicket comes at a crucial time for Bengaluru, as it seemed likely that one of either Faf or Rahul would soon start attacking the bowlers. Axar Patel has now come to the crease for DC. With both a right-hander and left-hander at the crease, it will be easier for them to find gaps and hit boundaries. The change was evident as soon as the left-hander entered, with Patidar switching back to pace bowling.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: The spinners are tightening their grip on the DC batters during the middle overs. The pitch is on the slower side, and occasional deliveries are staying low, making it increasingly difficult for the DC players to score freely. As the ball softens, it could become even more challenging for aggressive players and newcomers to assert themselves. However, one factor working in favor of the batters today is that if they manage to settle in, the small dimensions of the ground offer ample opportunities to hit regular boundaries.
DC vs RCB Live Updates, IPL 2025: Josh Hazlewood has entered the attack and quickly dismissed Abhishek Porel. While the batter might argue he was unfortunate, the bowler will claim it was a well-executed plan to take a wicket. The ball was bowled on a hard length, and Porel, attempting to pull the back-of-a-length delivery, ended up edging it to the keeper. Hazlewood continues to build on his solid performance from the previous match. Meanwhile, Yash Dayal has sent Karun Nair packing. It was another short delivery that Nair tried to pull, but he could only manage a top-edge, sending the ball high for Bhuvneshwar to comfortably take the catch.
