Delhi Capitals Batter Not Returning Back For Remainder Of IPL 2025: Report – Cricket.com
Australia’s dynamic opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has informed Delhi Capitals (DC) that he won’t be back for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, reported ESPNcricinfo.
The 23-year-old becomes the second cricketer after Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s Jamie Overton to confirm his unavailability for the competition.
Fraser-McGurk, who had a phenomenal IPL 2024 and was bought for INR 9 crore in the 2025 auction, was having a terrible tournament before it got suspended.
The right-handed batter managed only 55 runs in six innings at an average of 9.16 and a strike rate of just over 100, and was eventually dropped from the playing XI.
His absence won’t bother DC too much, but they are also waiting to hear from Mitchell Starc, Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs.
There have been reports suggesting that Starc won’t return for the remaining games, while Stubbs has been named in the South African squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Cricket South Africa wants all its players to return by May 26.
The IPL 2025 is set to resume on May 17 (Saturday) and DC are one of the teams who could qualify for the playoffs. They have won six of their 11 games and are currently at No.5 on the IPL 2025 points table.
The Capitals are scheduled to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi on May 18 (Sunday).
