A child, a plant ”-This is not just a slogan, but the beautiful tradition of the government model school of Lavkushanagar in Chhatarpur district, here a plant is planted in the name of every student and it is the responsibility of the same student.

The responsibility of a tree given to every student
School teacher Ramdev says that this initiative was initiated to make children aware of environmental love in children who have planted it in the name of the student who has applied it, students are also given the responsibility of taking care of the plants, they periodically work to provide water in plants, remove weeds and protect them from insects.

Flutter of medicinal to fruitful and shady trees
Medicinal plants like Harr, Bahera and Amla have been planted here, which are beneficial for health, while orange, lemon, mango, guava and banana plants are also flourishing in the name of children. Shady trees include Ashok, Peepal, Banyan, Jackfruit and Neem, which are ready to give cold shade in summer.

The initiative took place 5 years ago, school became an example of greenery today
The principal of the school Shivkumar Soni says that 5 years ago, former Principal KG Shukla laid the foundation of this ‘Hari Bagiya’, this initiative was so successful that today the greenery is seen all around in the entire school premises.

“We want children to be connected not only with education but also with nature,” – Principal Soni

Children handle themselves plant care
In this school, more than 80 children have been given responsibility for the maintenance of plants. They check the status of the plants every 1-2 days, for which a register has been prepared, in which it is recorded as to which student is the plant and what is his condition.

New plants are also being included
The school administration now wants to further this initiative, sandalwood, Gulmohar and other rare plants are being prepared from outside.
