The final of the eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday (June 3) between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). As per the weather prediction on Accuweather, there is 62% chance of rainfall during the titular contest which could play a bit of a spoilsport.
The closing ceremony ahead of match will be themed ‘Operation Sindoor’. Chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force have been invited to attend the event.
However, their offices are yet to confirm their participation in the ceremony. The entire stadium will be decorated with tricolour lights and a live concert by renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan will be held during the celebrations.
Flight fares soar to ₹25,000 ahead of final
Airfares from Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chandigarh to Ahmedabad skyrocketed to as high as ₹25,000 on Monday (June 2). On regular days, these fares typically range between ₹3,500 and ₹5,000.
Meanwhile, over 80,000 tickets have already been sold through online platforms. Additionally, 25,000 seats have been kept reserved. The stadium has a seating capacity of 1.30 lakh.
Closing ceremony dedicated to armed forces: Saikia
BCCI Secretary Saikia said that as a mark of appreciation for the army, we decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces and honor our heroes.
While cricket has remained a national passion, nothing is greater than our nation and its sovereignty, integrity and security.
BCCI Secretary, armed forces invited to celebrate Operation Sindoor
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated, “To celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor, we have invited Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, along with other military officials and soldiers, to watch the IPL final in Ahmedabad.”

Saikia added, “The closing ceremony is dedicated to our soldiers. BCCI salutes the bravery, courage and selfless service of the Indian Armed Forces.
As a mark of gratitude towards the military, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces and honour our heroes.
While cricket has always been a national passion, nothing is above the sovereignty, integrity, and security of our nation.”
Airfare for post-match day also surges
On the day following the final (Wednesday), June 4, morning flight fares from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru have spiked to ₹30,000.
There are a total of five morning flights to Bengaluru before 12 noon, with only two having limited seats left. Even those fares have shot up from ₹12,000 to ₹30,000.
80,000 tickets sold online, 25,000 reserved
For the final match at Narendra Modi Stadium, 80,000 tickets have already been sold online.
In addition, 25,000 tickets will be distributed free of cost to various organisations, including the cricket board. A portion of the reserved seats will also be allocated to military personnel.
This finale is set to be a grand tribute to India’s armed forces, blending the nation’s cricketing fervour with patriotic pride.
Metro services extended until 12:30 am on June 4 for IPL match; special paper tickets introduced
Metro services in Ahmedabad will operate beyond their regular hours until 12:30 am on June 4 to accommodate passengers for the IPL match. To facilitate return travel for spectators, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has introduced a special paper ticket, which will be mandatory for travel on that day.
These paper tickets can be purchased in advance from the following metro stations: Cross Road, Apparel Park, Kalupur, Old High Court, Thaltej, Motera, Sabarmati, Ranip, Vadaj, and Jivraj. The fare for the return journey has been set at ₹50 per person.
Municipal Corporation to operate late-night bus services
In anticipation of a late-night return for spectators attending the final match, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to run additional Amdavad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus services. These buses will operate between 10:00 pm and 1:30 am.
Buses will depart from the Acher Depot near Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera and travel to various areas including Maninagar, Odhav, Vasna, Ujala Circle and Narol. The fare for these special night services has been fixed at ₹30 per passenger.
