Officials of the Central Crime Branch on Friday arrested a gang of four selling tickets for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru-Chennai Super Kings game at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in black.
A team of officials caught Charanraj at Yeshwanthpur Pipeline Road and seized 12 tickets from him. The accused was selling tickets priced at ₹1,200 for ₹10,000.
Based on his information, the police arrested Harshavardhan, Vinay Kamaleshkar, and Venkat Sai, and recovered 20 more tickets, four mobile phones, and ₹1 lakh from them.
Among the accused, Venkat Sai is a temporary member of the Karnataka State Cricket Association who allegedly roped in the other accused to sell the tickets in black and make a quick buck.
The police suspect the involvement of insiders and the case has been taken up by special inquiry wing for further investigation.
