IPL 2025: Ahmedabad likely to host PBKS vs MI match as Dharamshala Airport Closes following Operation Sindoor – myKhel

The IPL 2025 encounter between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled for May 11, is now at the centre of a venue dilemma due to escalating logistical constraints in northern India.
The match, originally slated to be held in Dharamsala, has been relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad
This development stems from the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, a major Indian military offensive launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. As a result of heightened security protocols and regional instability, key airports in Chandigarh and Dharamsala have been shut down temporarily, affecting the travel and movement of IPL franchises. These closures have forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reassess the feasibility of holding the game in its initially assigned venue.
In light of these circumstances, Ahmedabad has emerged as a strong candidate to host the PBKS vs MI match. The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) was reportedly in discussions with the BCCI and now have confirmed its readiness to facilitate the match on short notice. The date of the game remains unchanged and, if approved, the high-voltage clash will be played on May 11 as originally scheduled.
The match will be taking place on its original date as May 11, but it has now been shifted away from Dharamshala. The PBKS team may fly to Ahmedabad a day before the match as it will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which is also the home of Gujarat Titans. It will also be an afternoon match, as Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans will play the evening encounter in Delhi on the same day.
Date: May 11
Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
Time: 3:30 pm IST
Amid this, the PBKS vs DC match will be played as scheduled on Thursday (March 8) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.
