After an intense evening at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the dust has settled on what was a must-win encounter for both Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. With CSK looking to bounce back from a shaky run and SRH grappling with injuries and inconsistency, this match had everything on the line and boy, did it deliver.

CSK, desperate to redeem themselves at their fortress in Chepauk, came out with purpose. Ruturaj Gaikwad looked fluent at the top, anchoring the innings beautifully, while Shivam Dube brought the fireworks in the middle overs. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, CSK managed to post a competitive total, thanks in part to a late cameo from Ravindra Jadeja.
SRH, on the other hand, were without a couple of key players, including an injured Aiden Markram, and it showed. Travis Head gave them a flying start, but Chennai’s bowling unit, especially Matheesha Pathirana, tightened the screws just when it mattered. Heinrich Klaasen tried to keep them in the hunt, but the pressure proved too much.
CSK will take a lot of heart from this win as they look to climb up the table and reassert their authority. For SRH, it’s back to the drawing board they’ve got talent, but cohesion is lacking, and time is running out.

We gonna have a bowl first. Chennai is always a big game, coming off a couple of loses but it is a new venue and boys are up for it. If the wicket is good, backing them to get a big total and otherwise also, backing them to do well. The pitch looks a little bit dry. – Pat Cummins
Dew was the main reason why we also wanted to bowl first. Almost in all the departments when you are not playing good cricket, chances are there will be pressure on the other guys as well. We want to get the process right and that is what we are looking to aim for the rest of the games. We are looking at one game at a time and we are looking at few combinations and have confidence in your ability and execute what you want to. We are not too sure how the wicket is. The groundsmen are trying their level best, I feel the old red soil wicket was a good one, the one before 2010 Champions League. We have made 2 changes. Rachin and Shankar out. Brevis and Hooda in. – MS Dhoni
