The IPL 2025 will travel to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad for Match 55 as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) gear up to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday, May 05.
With just three wins in 10 games, the home team are virtually eliminated from the tournament and are no more in the race for the playoffs. The Pat Cummins-led side are coming off a 38-run defeat at the hands of the Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring game at Ahmedabad. This season hasn’t gone the way planned for the Orange Army, with their top-order and fast bowling specialists struggling with form. However, with no pressure of qualifications, SRH will hope to give their opposition a tough time in the middle.
On the other hand, Delhi’s second half of the season has been underwhelming, with four losses in their last six games. With the tournament moving towards its business end rapidly, and teams are pushing hard to finish in the top four, the Axar Patel-led side needs to bring a different plan to decimate the opposition. Notably, the last time these two sides faced each other this season, the Capitals came out victorious by seven wickets.
The pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has largely favoured batters, with the surface generally being on the flatter side. With an average scoring rate of 11.28, it is expected to be another high-scoring contest. Despite the new ball providing a little seam movement early on, batters have enjoyed scoring in the power play. Spinners haven’t found much help, conceding at over 10 runs per over this season. Considering the past results in the season, the toss-winning captain may opt to bowl first.

With a fighting knock of 62 runs in his previous game, the South African will be keen on putting in a similar performance against SRH and propelling his side further up the standings. Faf has managed to score 165 in five innings at an average of 33.00 and a strike rate of 134.14, including two fifties.
Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav could be a possible threat to the opposition batters with his bowling. With 12 wickets in his last 10 matches, Yadav has been in good form, and his spell could trouble SRH. Notably, last time these two locked horns earlier in the season, the chinaman delivered a spell of 3/22 and played a key role in Delhi’s win.
