IPL 2025, MI vs KKR: Mumbai Indians eye first win after shaky start – Check Wankhede pitch report, probable XIs and more – The Financial Express
Mumbai Indians (MI) will be eager to turn their fortunes around as they return to Wankhede Stadium for their first home game of IPL 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday. Historically, MI have been slow starters in the tournament. However, the unit somehow makes its way into the playoffs despite shaky starts. As they prepare to take on KKR, the five-time champions have plenty to address.
Captain Hardik Pandya has acknowledged MI’s top-order struggles, with scores of 155 for 9 and 160 for 6 in their two matches so far. Their latest defeat to Gujarat Titans (GT) exposed flaws in their fielding and batting order, raising concerns over team balance. With Jasprit Bumrah back in the squad but yet to hit top form, MI will be keen to iron out their issues and capitalise on home advantage.
In contrast, KKR have been in fine form, securing victories against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Their adaptability was on display in Guwahati, where they triumphed despite Sunil Narine’s absence. With Narine now fully fit, KKR’s already potent bowling attack looks even stronger. The team has also benefited from contributions across the batting lineup and they have yet to unleash Andre Russell’s bowling skills this season.
Wankhede Stadium is known for its batting-friendly surface, where high-scoring matches are common. Short boundaries further aid aggressive stroke play, though bowlers can expect some bounce.
On match day, temperatures are expected to range between 26°C and 37°C, with wind speeds between 9 km/h and 13 km/h. According to AccuWeather, there is an 83% chance of cloud cover at night but rainfall is unlikely, with only a 1% probability.
Mumbai Indians (Probable): Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (Captain), Robin Minz, Naman Dhir, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner/Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Trent Boult, S Raju, Reece Topley
Kolkata Knight Riders (Probable): Quinton de Kock (WK), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Spencer Johnson, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana
The match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will be telecast live on Star Sports Network. The game is set to begin at 7.30 pm IST. It will also be streamed live on the JioHotstar app and website.
