As the Indian Premier League enters its 18th season — the BCCI is reportedly planning a country-wide celebration. For the first time, opening ceremonies will not be limited to one venue but will take place across all 13 locations hosting the tournament.

The celebrations will begin with a opening ceremony at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on March 22 before the first match of the season. Bollywood stars and musicians will headline the event.
According to Sportstar, singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani will be among the performers in Kolkata. The event will also see the ICC chairman Jay Shah and other top dignitaries.

Unlike previous editions — where the opening ceremony was limited to a single venue — IPL 2025 will feature cultural performances in every city where matches are played. Reports suggest that the BCCI wants every host city to experience the excitement of the tournament’s launch. A mix of national and local artists will perform at each venue.
“We wanted to add more flavour to the tournament so that spectators from each and every venue can get a taste of the opening ceremony,” a BCCI source told Sportstar.

The BCCI is in the final stages of discussions with several Bollywood and music industry stars for these performances. Each venue will have a short show before its first match that will have two to three performers. The official list of artists is expected to be finalized soon.

This season will also see matches being played at non-traditional venues like Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Dharamshala and Mullanpur. These locations have been selected as secondary home grounds by Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
