IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated standings after SRH beat RCB in Lucknow – Firstpost

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is currently underway, with all 10 teams having completed at least four or five games. With each game carrying crucial points, the competition for the top four spots remains intense. Teams will be looking for consistency and improving their net run rate (NRR) to stay in contention for the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs in an exciting match on Friday. Batting first, SRH scored a big total of 231/6 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan was the star with the bat, hitting a superb 94 not out from just 48 balls. Abhishek Sharma gave a good start with 34 off 17 balls, and Aniket Verma added quick runs in the middle overs.
In reply, RCB started well with Phil Salt scoring 62 runs off 32 balls and Virat Kohli making 43 from 25 balls. But after their wickets fell, the rest of the batters couldn’t keep up with the big target. Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets, including Salt and Bhuvneshwar. Eshan Malinga also impressed with 2 wickets.
RCB were bowled out for 189 in 19.5 overs. Ishan Kishan was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock. After this defeat, RCB have dropped to the third spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
Here’s a look at the updated points table after the SRH vs RCB match:
Orange Cap: Sai Sudharsan (GT) — 638 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 155.99.

Purple Cap: Prasidh Krishna (GT) – 21 wickets in 13 innings at an economy of 8.09.
The final IPL 2024 league standings saw eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finish on top with 20 points from 14 matches, thanks to 9 wins, 3 losses, and 2 no-results. They were followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), both with 17 points, securing second and third positions respectively.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) completed a remarkable turnaround to clinch the fourth playoff spot. They won five matches in a row to finish with 14 points and edging out Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all of whom also ended with 14 points but had inferior NRRs.
Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered due to two no-results and a poor NRR, finishing 8th with 12 points, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) rounded out the bottom two.
