The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will begin high-level negotiations with the centre government and principal stakeholders to identify the optimal time frame for the resumption of IPL 2025. A total of 16 games, four of them playoffs, are yet to be played this season. As the Indian Premier League is a tournament of national interest, the BCCI is hoping to bring its decision-making into line with that of the Government of India.
The IPL was formally suspended on Friday, May 9, after the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala after sudden blackout. Cricbuzz reports indicate the board is eager to conclude the league by the end of May and is looking for a 12–14-day window to fit in the remaining matches. The schedule might include a couple of extra doubleheaders to achieve this deadline.
The India-Pakistan tensions started after the Pahalgam Attack on April 22 which claimed lives of 26 innocent tourists following this horrific attack, India retaliated with Operation Sindoor on May 7. The operation marked series of military attack that targeted terrorists infrastructure in Pakistan. Since then the conflict has aggravated and on May 10, a ceasefire was swiftly brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, bringing a temporary pause to hostilities. However, the truce was short-lived, as both India and Pakistan soon reported fresh violations and blamed each other for reigniting the conflict.
Now that Pakistan has already violated the ceasefire, the future of IPL remains a question unanswered hence BCCI is closely monitoring the situation and will try to reschedule the league as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for all the live updates on the rescheduling of IPL 2025.

The final decision will only come once it is approved by the government and all the stakeholders.
