Former Australian cricketer Bob Cowper, the first batter to score a triple century in Test cricket on Australian soil, passed away on Sunday at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness. Cowper’s most iconic moment came in 1966 when he scored 307 against England at the MCG, helping Australia retain the Ashes. Across his 27-Test career between 1964 and 1968, he amassed 2061 runs at an impressive average of 48.16, including five centuries, before retiring at just 28 to pursue a business career.
A stalwart for Victoria in domestic cricket, Cowper also contributed to the sport as an ICC match referee and mentor. Cowper was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2023 for his services to cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have not yet made a decision regarding their scheduled five-match T20I series in Pakistan. The Emirates Cricket Board had earlier announced that Bangladesh will face the UAE on May 17 and 19 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, with both matches set to begin at 7:00 pm local time.
The five T20Is against Pakistan, originally planned from May 25 to June 3, are now under review due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan—a situation that has already led to the postponement of both the IPL and PSL. The BCB cited regional instability as the reason for deferring a final decision on the Pakistan leg of the tour.
Amid the tense time in cricket in India, Virat Kohli has added yet another pain for fans. The run machine has reportedly informed the BCCI of his intention to retire from Test cricket, citing struggles with form, just after Rohit Sharma said his goodbye. With India’s crucial England tour looming, the board has urged him to rethink his decision. Kohli’s recent dip in performance, coupled with mental pressures, has led him to this tough choice. The cricketing world now awaits his final call. Read the full story HERE.

Reports late last night suggest the ceasefire has been breached, and with the situation turning volatile once more, the future of the tournament hangs in the balance. What happens next? We’ll see.
The suspension of both the IPL and PSL because of growing tensions between India and Pakistan shows how much the BCCI influences world cricket.
The India-Pakistan rivalry isn’t just a huge sporting event–it’s a financial powerhouse. After the sudden ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the BCCI will meet on Sunday to plan how to finish the remaining IPL matches. The league was paused with 16 games left due to the recent conflict. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said they’ll look at the best way to restart the tournament. Most cities are expected to keep their matches, though Dharamsala might lose its game because of travel issues. A final decision will be made soon.
