IPL 2025 To Have More Double Headers After Resumption, Home Advantage…- News18 – News18
The BCCI is expected to meet today to finalise the schedule for the remainder of the IPL 2025 which was suspended earlier this week due to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The board will consult the Indian government along with all the stakeholders including the franchises, broadcasters, state associations among others before announcing the schedule for the remaining 17 matches which include 13 league matches, three playoffs and the final.
On May 8, an IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abandoned midway duo to the escalating tensions at the India-Pakistan border and later, the board announced they have suspended the league for one week.
On Saturday evening, ceasefire was announced by India and Pakistan which has brightened the hopes of resumption. The board is aiming to complete the season in May itself and to accommodate for the lost time, more double headers could be added.
At the same time, the teams will be afforded home advantage as much as possible.
“We may have to add a few more double headers. But following discussions, we could try and allow teams the home advantage as much as possible," an IPL official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times on Sunday.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia says that they will seek government’s permission before announcing the date of restart.

“Given the importance of IPL at this juncture, it will also be prudent and necessary to take the nod of the Government of India before finalising the time for its restart. BCCI will duly announce the date of IPL restart once the whole process is over in due course of time," Saikia was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Several overseas starts have already left for their home and it’s likely they will be called back. However, as of now, no contact has been made.
