IPL Auction Venue Finalised, Middle East Gets The Nod Again: Reports – Cricket.com

For the third year running, the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place in the Middle East. The IPL 2026 will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16, if media reports are to be believed.
Before this, the IPL 2025 mega auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while the IPL 2024 mini auction was held in Dubai. Before the IPL 2024 auctions, all auctions had been held in India.
“BCCI officials indicated that logistical considerations prompted the decision to stage it overseas for the third straight time,” Sportstar wrote in a report.
Earlier in the day, two trades were announced officially by the IPL Governing Council through press releases.
Both the players were traded to Mumbai Indians, who acquired the services of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s Shardul Thakur and Gujarat Titans (GT)’s Sherfane Rutherford for the same prices that they were paid by their previous franchises.
November 15 has been set as the deadline for announcing retentions by the teams ahead of IPL 2026.
