It’s confirmed, IPL & WPL franchise RCB set to get new owners by March 31 – InsideSport
So, the speculations were indeed right. IPL 2025 winners, RCB is now officially on sale. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the disclosure by Diageo, owners of the men’s and women’s RCB, has started the entire process, and it hopeful, that the sale would be completed by March 31, 2026.
In its disclosure, the company said, “the USL is initiating a strategic review of the investment in its wholly owned subsidiary, RCSPL. RCSPL’s business comprises ownership of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise team that participate in the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women’s Premier League (WPL) cricket tournaments hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) annually.“
Further, the disclosure read, “It is expected the process will conclude by March 31, 2026.” Praveen Someswar, MD and CEO of USL, said, “RCSPL has been a valuable and strategic asset for USL. However, it is non-core to our alcobev business. This step reinforces USL’s and Diageo’s commitment to continue reviewing its India enterprise portfolio to enable sustained delivery of long-term value to all its stakeholders, while keeping RCSPL’s best interest in mind.”
This decision has come after the franchise won the WPL title in 2024, and the IPL title for the very first time in 2025, under the leadership of Smriti Mandhana, and Rajat Patidar, respectively. Various media reports in the past have suggested that Diageo seek USD 2 billion for both the teams.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear, if the business decisions will have any impact on the cricketing decisions for RCB or not. It is one of the most followed franchises in India, with some very big names associated wit it.
