LPG cylinder became costlier by Rs 50 will you get benefit if you book it before 12 midnight

The central government announced on 7 April 2025 that after 12 o’clock tonight, the LPG cylinder will have to be paid 50 rupees more. The biggest thing is that these increased rates, Ujjwala scheme and non-Ujjwala will apply. Let us now understand that if the gas cylinder is booked before 12 o’clock tonight, can you be saved by Rs 50 per cylinder.

What does the rule say?

Increasing the price of LPG gas, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the new rates of LPG gas will be applicable from 12 o’clock tonight. Now in such a situation, the question in the minds of many people is that if we book a gas before 12 o’clock in the night, will we get the LPG cylinder cheaper by 50 rupees.

The answer is yes. That is, if you book a gas now and make payment for it in advance, then you will get 50 rupees LPG gas cheaper. But, if you just booked the gas and did not prepare, then the bill will be generated tomorrow morning. In such a situation, if the amount written in the bill will be according to tomorrow, then you will have to pay 50 rupees more.

What did Hardeep Singh Puri say?

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed that this increase in the price of LPG cylinders will be applicable to both the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and general consumers. Now the gas cylinder received under the Ujjwala scheme has increased from Rs 500 to Rs 550, while other consumers will now have to pay Rs 853 instead of 803.

Union Minister Puri said that this increase is not permanent. The government reviews it every 2 to 3 weeks and further changes in prices are possible. He also clarified that the burden of excise duty on petrol and diesel will not be put on the general public.

Why increase the price?

According to Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, this step has been taken to compensate for a loss of Rs 43,000 crore to oil companies, which has taken them in the sale of LPG. In this era of inflation, this decision of the government will put an additional burden on the public’s pocket, especially on those families who fill the cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme. Now everyone’s eyes are on what relief is available in the next review meeting.
