Chennai Super Kings handed a debut to the 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Mhatre replaces Rahul Tripathi in the playing XI, after being roped into the CSK squad last week in place of injured Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Mhatre has played nine First-Class matches and seven List A games and has scored close 962 runs from the same.
Mhatre had earlier been called to Chennai for a trial, along with a few other domestic cricketers. It is believed that the team management chose the 17-year-old for his aggressive batting. The right-handed batter, who represents Mumbai in Domestic Cricket, joined CSK for INR 30 Lakh
