Mumbai Indians Keen On Trading Ishan Kishan Ahead Of IPL 2026: Reports – Cricket.com
The dates for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction have not been officially announced, but initial reports have suggested that the mini auction is likely to take place in December, giving franchises plenty of time to strategize for the upcoming edition of the competition.
It goes without saying that plenty of money will be spent at the mini auction, but with still at least a couple of months to go for the big day, it seems like several franchises have already started to seriously explore the trade option.
Mumbai Indians (MI), five-time champions, are no strangers to making big trades, and it’s now believed that the Hardik Pandya-led side are now trying to bring back Ishan Kishan ahead of IPL 2026.
According to a Times of India report, Kishan has attracted ‘serious interest’ from multiple teams, with the biggest of them being his old side MI, who are in desperate need of an Indian wicketkeeper batter heading into the brand new edition of the tournament.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad man, according to the report, seems to be in serious demand ahead of the mini auction.
“Not just MI, even Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have knocked on SRH's door for a potential trade/all-cash deal for the left-hander, but there hasn't been any further development on that front,” the report further stated.
Bought for INR 11.25 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, Kishan had a mixed season for SRH. He racked up a couple of mammoth scores but struggled for consistency, and eventually finished with 354 runs in the season. His potential, however, is well-established, and he’s a high-ceiling player most franchises would happily take a gamble on.
Kishan was bought for INR 15.25 cr by Mumbai in the IPL 2022 auction, but the franchise released the wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the ongoing cycle due to a string of poor seasons. As it stands, the left-hander is not a team India regular in any format as well.
