Somnath Gavankar, who was involved in this discovery, said, “Local belief that there was a stone statue of Betal earlier, so this place was called Betalkadlo Whal. Although that idol is nowhere to be found anywhere. But people still keep the forest safe.”

According to Geography teacher Devendra Tawadkar, “Most of these marks are round. Some are deep and some are superficial.”
