Nagpur violence: There was a violent clash between two groups on Monday (March 17) in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in the midst of a dispute over the demolition of the grave of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, stoning and arson occurred. Many people were injured in this while many vehicles were also damaged. In view of the situation, curfew was imposed at the place of violence. According to the police, the situation is currently under control.

In fact, on Monday (March 17) at 2 pm, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad demonstrated with Aurangzeb’s grave, after which people from the Muslim community arrived there and started protecting against the VHP, but the police sent the Muslim community from there in view of the situation.

How did the violence erupt?
After this, a large number of people of Muslim community reached near Shivaji Chowk and shouted slogans at 7 pm. After this, people of Hindu community also started shouting slogans. Then the police reached the spot and the people of both the communities shouting slogans were separated. The police chased everyone from Shivaji Chowk towards Chitnis Park.

Then at around eight o’clock in the night, stones started on the police from the front of Chitnis Park and the crowd started fire there. After this, the police had to lathi -charged and fired tear gas shells.

How are the situation?
A large number of police force including Police Commissioner Ravindra Singhal is present in the area. The security system is currently under control. 20 to 25 people who pelted stones have been detained. People have been appealed not to get out of their homes.
