Next IPL 2025 Match 'On As Of Now', Arun Dhumal Awaits 'Government Directives'- News18 – News18

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal on Thursday said government directives are being awaited before deciding on whether to continue with the league amid the military clash with Pakistan but Friday’s match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru “is on as of now".
IPL’s schedule has already been affected by the developments as the May 11 game between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala has been moved to Ahmedabad.
It is not clear whether the league will proceed any further and Dhumal evaded any clear response. But he did confirm that Friday’s match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow is not threatened as of now.
“We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven’t received any directive from the government. Obviously the decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind," Dhumal told PTI.
Asked about Friday’s game in Lucknow, he said: “Yes it is on as of now but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind."

However, reliable IPL sources have revealed that foreign recruits want to head home at the earliest.
This comes after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala was called off.
“We are organising a special train from Una, which is not far from Dharamsala, to bring everybody home safely. As of now the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated. We will take a call on the tournament’s future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players’ safety is utmost important," BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had said in a statement.
The teams will travel to Pathankot by road. Dharamsala’s lone airport, along with the ones in neighbouring Kangra and Chandigarh, are currently closed as part of precautionary measures to thwart potential Pakistani attacks.

As per reports, fans and both teams were evacuated from the HPCA stadium by the tournament and local authorities due to security reasons.
The development happened after Jammu had a complete blackout, with reports of civilians witnessing missile streaks in the sky and drone attacks happening from Pakistan.
A full blackout has been observed in Baramulla and Pathankot, while Chandigarh has also been signalled for a complete blackout.
“There was no panic from the spectators. They (spectators and players) were moved out of the stadium very carefully and safely," an HPCA source told PTI.
