No AC Campaign: ‘No EC campaign’ of cab drivers in Hyderabad starts from 24 March

No AC Campaign: Online train booking is increasing rapidly in big cities. Online train booking in Hyderabad such as Ola, Uber and Rapido drivers have staged a unique protest. Troubled by low fare and more commission of cab aggregators, the drivers have decided not to run AC. This No AC campaign has started from 24 March.

According to the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union, the cab driver in Hyderabad will start ‘No AC campaign’ from 24 March. The union wants the cab-grugters to implement the same fare like prepaid taxi fare fixed by the government, which includes fuel costs, maintenance and proper compensation of the driver’s services.

The union also organized a ‘No AC campaign’ in April 2024 stating that drivers would earn Rs 10-12 per km, while the cost of running an air conditioner cab is Rs 16-18 per km. Also, there is a difference of about Rs 300-400 in the fares of aggregators and prepaid taxis. Cab drivers often have to wait for three to four hours at the airport for a return journey and the app with which they work has to pay 30 percent commission from rent, which reduces their earnings.

Earlier, the union had protested by booking passengers from Hyderabad Airport for its demand. This time he has launched ‘No AC’ campaign. Sheikh Salahuddin said that the union would perform in different ways against the unfair prices being given by the cab aggregators.
