Virat Kohli has scored five fifties in the Indian Premier League 2025, and the Royal Challengers have won all those matches. He has amassed 392 runs from 9 matches and is the second-highest run-getter in the ongoing season. Bengaluru had lost three consecutive home games before the clash against the Rajasthan Royals. The batting collapsed in the previous contests at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, but the batters delivered the best performance of the season in a game with Rajasthan. RCB captain Rajat Patidar lost the fourth toss on the trot in a home game, and the franchise was invited to bat first. A similar toss result in the past three matches saw Bengaluru’s batting collapse and a below-par performance.
Patidar’s team was prepared for any kind of challenge and finally touched the 200-run mark in the home fixture. Kohli amassed 70 runs off 42 balls, packed with 8 fours and 2 sixes. His teammate Devdutt Padikkal accumulated 50 runs off 27 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Bengaluru posted 205/5 and restricted Rajasthan to 194/9.
The 36-year-old was a relieved man after ending the losing streak in Bengaluru. “Pretty happy after three ordinary games at home. We discussed our batting performances and finally managed to deliver. The pitch was not as flat as the scoreboard shows. Dew played a part in the second innings and the batting became easy,” Virat Kohli said.
“The first challenge would be to win the toss. We were falling short by 30-35 runs in home matches but crossed the 200-run mark for the first time. One batter has to stay as long as possible. We played forced shots in the previous three games, but today, we applied ourselves and got the results,” he added.
“I am hoping that we add 30-35 extra runs in the remaining matches of the tournament. Bengaluru is the best place for cricket, and the fans are enjoying it as the team is performing well,” he concluded.
