RBI has taken the biggest decision of 2025 Will buy government securities worth Rs 80000 crore know what will be its effect

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has carried out the biggest open market operation (OMO) in four years at the end of the financial year 2025 (FY25). On Tuesday, the central bank announced that it would purchase government securities worth Rs 80,000 crore. This shopping will be in four installments. On April 3, April 8, April 22 and April 29, bonds worth Rs 20,000 crore will be purchased every time.

RBI had added 1 lakh crores in March too

This step is part of RBI’s previous activities. In March too, the central bank had put a liquidity of Rs 1 lakh crore in the market, which was 50,000-50,000 crore in two installments. RBI said that it is keeping an eye on market condition and liquidity and will take more steps if needed.

Surplus status in March from Defisit of January

The Indian banking system had a surplus of Rs 89,400 crore by the end of March 2025, while the deficit of 3.3 lakh crores was going on in January. That is, the situation has improved a lot due to the intervention of RBI.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra said in a program organized in Mumbai on the occasion of 90th Foundation Day of RBI that the next decade will play an important role in giving a new shape to the financial structure of the Indian economy. He said, “90 years ago, RBI was established as a patron of India’s monetary and financial stability. In these nine decades, we have molded ourselves according to the changing economic conditions, but our resolve towards the progress and welfare of the people has always been strong.”
