The business value of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached 18.5 billion dollars (approximately Rs 1.56 lakh crore) in 2025. This is 12.9% more compared to last year. According to global investment bank Houlihan Lokey’s study, IPL’s own brand value has also increased by 13.8% to 3.9 billion dollars (Rs 33 thousand crore).
This season, advertising, viewership and investor interest have contributed to the increase in brand value. The final played between Punjab and Bangalore on June 3 surpassed the India-Pakistan T20 match in terms of viewership.
Difference between Brand Value and Business Value
Business Value
It shows how much your business is worth today, meaning the total value including its assets, profits, cash flow etc. For example, if someone runs a shop, the business value would be the sum of the current value of the goods in stock and bank balance and similar things.
Brand Value
This indicates how popular and trustworthy your brand is in the market. For example, how much people trust when they hear your brand name and how much it attracts customers. This is called brand value. For instance, Coca-Cola’s name and logo value is worth more than its factories and profits.
RCB at number one, surpasses MI and CSK in brand value
In the 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has become the most valuable franchise for the first time. RCB’s brand value has increased from 227 million dollars (Rs 1,946 crore) to 269 million dollars (Rs 2,307 crore). The team winning their first IPL title was the reason for this increase in valuation.
In the list, Mumbai Indians (MI) are second with 242 million dollars (Rs 2,075 crore) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are third with 235 million dollars ( Rs 2,015 crore).
Punjab Kings shows fastest growth, impact of reaching finals
Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw the highest brand value increase of 39.6%. It has reached 141 million dollars (Rs 12,08 crore). This growth came from the team reaching finals, buying big players in auction and digital engagement. Additionally, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are also included in the top-5.
Revenue increased from sponsorship and ad revenue
IPL 2025 earned 600 million dollars (about 5 thousand crore rupees) from sponsorship and advertising, which is 50% more than last year. BCCI raised 1,485 crore rupees by making My11Circle, Angel One, RuPay and CEAT associate sponsors. Tata Group has also extended their title sponsorship till 2028 for 2,500 crore rupees.
IPL 2025 Final Sets Viewership Record
This year’s IPL final (RCB vs PBKS) was watched by 67.8 crore people, which is a new record for any T20 match. Its viewership exceeded the T20 match played between India and Pakistan in February 2025, which was watched by around 60 crore people.
Valuation Will Increase Further with Cricket’s Inclusion in Olympics
IPL’s global appeal is continuously growing. Franchises like Punjab Kings are now running teams in the Caribbean Premier League and focusing on digital fan engagement. In the coming years, IPL seasons could become longer, and with cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics, its value could increase further.
