Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the reigning champions, have a solid core of 17 retained players going into the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction. These players include Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and captain Rajat Patidar. Instead of completely rebuilding the team, their approach is to repair modest yet targeted deficiencies in order to preserve its championship balance. Overseas all-rounder Liam Livingstone and pacer Lungi Ngidi were released before the bidding wars, freeing up Rs 16.40 crore for targeted investment to fill eight open spots (including two overseas).
Josh Hazlewood, who is presently injured, needs an experienced overseas fast-bowling backup, and they also need some good firepower in the middle order to replace Livingstone, who was released. Yash Dayal, a left-arm seamer who has not played professional cricket since the 2025 Indian Premier tournament and just missed the UPT20 tournament, may also need a backup.
