RCB vs RR Today Match Results: Josh Hazlewood’s fiery four-fer coupled with Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal’s robust fifties help Royal Challengers Bengaluru end their jinx at the M Chinnaswamy stadium with an 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match. With this RCB recorded their first win at home in the ongoing season.

RCB first rode on Virat Kohli’s 42-ball 70 and Devdutt Padikkal’s 27-ball 50 to post 205/5 on the board. In reply, RR’s batting choked again as they were restricted to 193/9 despite Dhruv Jurel’s fighting 34-ball 47.
With this win RCB rose to third in the IPL 2025 points table, while RR remained eighth in the standings with their seventh defeat in the ongoing season.

RCB will next take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley stadium while RR will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 28 in Jaipur.
Earlier, RCB put up a formidable batting display against RR, posting a big total of 205/5 in their allotted 20 overs riding on brilliant half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Seeking their first home victory of IPL 2025, Kohli and Padikkal forged a commanding 95-run partnership for the second wicket, scoring 70 and 50 runs respectively. Late cameos from Tim David (23 runs) and Jitesh Sharma (20 runs) further propelled RCB to their highest total while batting first at their home ground in the current competition.

After being asked to bat first, the RCB opening pair of Kohli and Phil Salt had to navigate some fiery bowling from Jofra Archer. Kohli managed to get a boundary off Archer via a glove edge. Salt also had a moment of fortune early in his innings when, on one run, he mistimed a low full toss from Fazalhaq Farooqi, and stand-in captain Riyan Parag dropped the catch at mid-off.
Kohli also benefited from luck when he narrowly avoided chopping the ball onto his stumps off Archer, resulting in a boundary. He then showcased his wristwork with a flick for another four. Following a couple of boundaries from Salt off Farooqi, the opener capitalised on Tushar Deshpande’s full deliveries, hitting consecutive fours. Kohli then flicked Deshpande for a boundary and followed it up with a drive off Sandeep Sharma, helping RCB reach a strong 59/0 by the end of the powerplay. 
However, Salt’s luck soon ran out when a top-edged sweep off Wanindu Hasaranga was caught by the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Despite the tight bowling from Hasaranga and Riyan Parag, Virat Kohli managed to break free, slicing and edging a delivery from Sandeep Sharma to reach his fifth half-century of the season in just 32 balls.
At the other end, Devdutt Padikkal displayed sublime elegance in his strokeplay, executing pulls, sweeps, drives down the ground, and punches through the off-side to accumulate boundaries. He also had a moment of fortune when Tushar Deshpande dropped a catch off Hasaranga when Padikkal was on 28. Capitalizing on this reprieve, Padikkal then danced down the pitch to loft Parag for a six and followed it up by slicing Deshpande over third man for another maximum.
While Kohli dispatched both Parag and Deshpande for sixes, Padikkal reached his fifty in a quick 26 balls by lofting the latter down the ground for a majestic six. Rajasthan Royals’ decision to reintroduce Jofra Archer proved fruitful as he broke the 95-run partnership, with Kohli chipping a slower delivery to cover.
The visitors then opted to take the second new ball, which yielded immediate success. Padikkal spooned a slower ball from Sandeep Sharma to a juggling fielder at mid-off, and shortly after, Rajat Patidar edged a wide delivery to the wicketkeeper. Jitesh Sharma showcased his innovative batting, hitting boundaries off both Sandeep and Fazalhaq Farooqi, while Tim David contributed with a cut and a loft for a four and a six respectively. Jitesh then pulled Archer for a boundary, taking RCB’s total to the 200-run mark.
